My legacy UP 9000 cab lights blink continuous. There don't seem to be a code for this, anybody know. The smoke unit works so that is not the problem.

Have you tried reprogramming it follow the instructions in the back of the owners manual?
Certain Lionel products have a "strobe" effect that can inadvertantly be turned on. I'm not sure if this applies here.
I have had a similar issue once in a while with my Milwaukee Road S-3s, and it usually goes away with a reprograming. Sometimes, mine, will go away, the next day I power up.

I did reprogram the engine and it still blinks after you use the whistle.
Jeff,
the 9000 is one of the new ones and I really like it. Great sound, smoke, etc. whistle smoke works great also.
Sounds like the whistle smoke is most likely the issue. Either fan or heating element. 4 blinks element, 5 blinks fan. Is the whistle smoke working?
If its not blinking in a pattern as Marty suggested, heres another thread with the similar problem.
Note the 4th post by forum member "Ken in Nebraska," he mentions pushing AUX 8 before doing the reprogram.
Marty,
yes the whistle smoke is working.
RickO,
I'll give that a try
thanks, guys
My advice is to call Lionel and talk to a Tech. There are a number of issues that could be causing the blinking lights. There might be a ground problem. Lionel will fix you up.
i have had to return several of the new engines and Lionel sends them back quickly.
Great Customer Service.
