463 Reactor Help

Took another look with fresh eyes - got it off - saw the problem gear - ordered the part - just gotta remember how to put it back together!

I am trying to fix mine. The magnet arm will operate with the handle, but not with the motor, I can hear the motor running. Who has parts for this? Thanks,

I searched for OGR Forum threads including the words: Lionel #463 Nuclear Reactor Repair Information

and found a lot of guidance including where to order parts.  Dismantling the gear assembly takes some patience and small Phillips head screw drivers.

Can't say that I am an expert since I haven't actually fixed mine yet.

Take heart!.....the new gear and belt solved this common problem.  

Yes, it is a BEAR to get down to the serviceable level of this problem.  Just take your time, be careful to get the gear shaft bearings properly positioned/seated, accepting a glass of merlot coupled with a shoulder massage from the spouse against a background of soothing music, ....and you'll get there!

And another shout out to Dave and Lynda Rygmyr of Northwest Shortline for adding this Delrin gear to their product line just to solve this problem for us!!

DKDKRD - Yes I was! 

Tell me.....while I wait for my new gear to come in the mail...how difficult was it to press fit the new gear onto the shaft?  Did you need any special tool?  Any advice is welcome.
