It's noisy by nature - can motor driven gear mechanism inside a resonating plastic box. A light coating of the Lucas Red 'N' Tacky #2 might quiet it down some, but I would be glad at this point that it still works at all with none of the gears having cracked over the years. Just the way that forked lever snaps into that drive pin makes me cringe every time, wondering if this is the time it lets go from age and/or fatigue.

Mine was rarely operated and failed as described above.  This was not built to last.
