Good grief Charlie Brown, yet anther train station to think about, I have

SIX now, Three MTH, one Atlas, and two Lionel. I am sure this will be nice also, but what do I take out of the mix...another decision not to be made with a sober mind.

Nice! I have all the stops I need on my layout and this would be way too big for a narrow gauge railroad, but I really like the looks of it.

I haven't always been impressed with Menards offerings, but lately, they've made some really good stuff.

Looks nice....was hoping for a more unique style.  Is any one else interested in 'Mission Style' station??? Before you say no 'I model Eastern roads' this type station was popular all over the USA. They still stand in many cities. Salisbury NC is still in daily use. Others I have visited are in Columbus Ohio. And many more have been torn down like Charlotte NC.   The most famous of all L.A. Union.

Another type never modeled is a Art Deco like Prince WV or the old Las Vegas station.

If it really states "Allentown" I will have to get one - can add a sign advertising the First Frost/Spring Thaw meets and the HamFam restaurant where we all meet for breakfast!

I think most would agree that there are more attractive, distinct train stations to model, but with a mass market product, they kind of have to design to the common denominator in order for the building to fit asthetically and temporally onto the majority of layouts.

And I think train stations, more than any other building, everyone has their own favorite.  So instead of trying to please a few, they go after the masses.

I do believe, it maybe is still bobbing out in the harbor someplace. It seems like a lot of Christmas  items  will be delayed  this year.....

Looking forward to this, hope it wasn't shipped on a Hajin ship!

My wife and I  visited the Virginia Transportation Museum in Roanoke, VA for the first time this weekend. We wanted to see the 611 up close and personal.  Great museum, by the way.   So why am I telling you this in this string...well, when i saw the Menard's Station, I was intrigued as I had never seen a station with an opening in the middle.   Well, as we walked through the museum I ran across the following wall hangings...

The restored Virginian station is less than 2 miles from the museum. It fell into bad state, caught fire at one time.....very happy it was saved.  

Great on the prototype find in Roanoke. I thought there were several divided stations in Calif., SW/Mission style, on the ATSF?  I remember photos, probably in books.

The first station north out of Roanoke was Hollins station. A divided station.

Twenty miles up the road was the Buchanan station (also seen in the other Menard's Station thread).
