I have posted previously in the tinplate forum on trains of interest I have found in my late grandfather inlaw's house. Alot of trains to go thru that's for sure.... Well I found this... He has 3 of them... Exactly the same condition as this one... I only wanted to take one out of the box.

Is this a find or what!!! Post war holy grail find maybe? Unfortunately these are not my trains to keep.. I was given a fair sized amount but certain ones my father in law wanted for himself.. He has thought about selling one or two of them. As why have a mint condition train and not run them, but how do you put a value on this?

What in really looking for is just more information about the production run #'s, what sets it came in, rarity of the pennsylvania tender with it.

And I just wanted to show it off

Andrew, depending on the tender included in the package, the 2671W tender would command a premium, that is the 6 wheel truck tender. My 2013 price guide says $395 for Exc. condition. These look more like "Like New" which is another kettle of fish, so to speak. The only downside, if there is one, is that Lionel just released their Conventional Classic 736, but an original made in the US would be much preferable to the Chinese version, IMO. A picture of the tender would be helpful. What a nice find!

The box is marked "1967 model". So it should not have a 2671W tender.

I believe the correct tender would be a 736W.

Sell, run, or just keep. What to do with the train(s) is up to the owner.

Collectors buy trains to have, not to run.

As to a price, I'd suggest looking on Ebay for completed auctions for Berkshires with the same tender in similar condition. Try to find several to get an idea of the prices realized.

You have something special, so start a bit high. You can always lower the price if it doesn't sell.
