I seen a video of someone that put one of Lionels 8057-200 fan driven smoke units in a Williams girls steam engine. I want to do the same with mine, but I can't find the smoke unit. It's unavailable on Lionels website.

My question is, are there other fan driven smoke units from Lionel that is the same size or even a little smaller? The ohms doesn't matter to me, because I was going to put a lower ohm resister in it anyways.

Does anyone know of anything that will work in place of the 8057-200?

Thanks

I've actually done and had better luck with MTH proto 1 fan smoke units in Williams. They take straight track power. MTH sells them for 60 w\ shipping  brand new with brass stands and screws.  Or hunt the auction sites for a good deal.  Just make sure it's the proto 1. The proto 2 & 3 don't run off straight track power. Here's the part number and measurements:

AA0000011- SMOKE UNIT / PS 1 / SEPARATE SALE UPGRADE FOR AFTERMARKET / 25mm W x 68mm L x 45mm H / COMES WITH BRASS STAND OFFS & MOUNTING SCREWS

I typically use the MTH AA0000070 smoke unit and the AA0000102 threaded brass cup.  I solder my stack extension to the brass cup and then install it in the smoke unit.  I've installed these in all sorts of locomotives from Atlantic sized to 3rd Rail Big Boys.

Note that I'm typically installing my Super-Chuffer II to control the smoke, so I don't have to worry about a fan power supply.
