Another event added to our York Meet trip!  We scored tickets for the Phillies National League Championship Series game later on tonight! This adds to the fun along with our tickets for the Flyers home opener on Tuesday night.

And then we cruise to York on Wednesday. This trip just reeks of awesomeness!!

Forecast has improved again. No rain through Friday. Showers Saturday.

Could be a lot worse, and I've been there in a lot worse!   Maybe in a couple days they'll move the rain to Sunday.

It dried up in late August and we've had zero meaningful rains since. Our creeks are pathetic and the dirt forest roads are like talcum powder. Wild Child the wife and I had to ride our street legal dirt bikes on paved back roads out in the Ozarks yesterday to avoid the choking dust.

Are they winning again? Hopefully they go all the way. My oldest brother was a Phillies Fan ages ago. I remember the series against the Yankees, haven't really followed baseball much.

Looks a bit more promising, maybe it'll improve some more by opening.

There've been many sweeps in this year's playoffs so far, in fact too many for my taste.

But, hoping for a couple more doesn't seem like too much to ask for in your case.

I don't know if many train folks stay at the Days Inn anymore, and I doubt that many of us stay at the low-end hotels, but I just saw an article about crime problems at the hotels around the US30/I-83 interchange - https://local21news.com/news/l...n-york-co-motel-zone

Drove past the Super 8 today - saw what looked like a huge broken window.  Used to be a decent place.  Such a shame.

Please keep this in mind when booking a room for the meet.

Thanks for the update. I noticed the Days Inn has cheaper rates recently and been considering those other low budget options as the rates of other hotels has sky rocketed. By next York, hotels have doubled in price in 18-24 months.

The place I stayed at last April had raised its rates for this October by nearly 50%  when I checked in May. I thought, forget about it. Checking month by month the rate for the same room dropped steadily. When I booked a few weeks ago it was 10% lower than April. Go figure. Patience pays off.

That's similar to my strategy - I book far in advance so I'm guaranteed to have a room, then keep checking regularly.  Not scoring as often as I would a few years ago, but I occasionally find a better place and/or a lower rate.

I've noticed that the problems seem to increase with the number of long-term residents.  The last time I stayed at Days Inn (6 or 7 years ago), I saw the school bus stopping to pick up several kids at the lobby - that's a huge red flag.  I've been staying at LaQuinta for a few years - last time I noticed a couple of longer term residents, and the Best Western across the street appeared to have several - hoping this isn't the start of a trend.

Used to enjoy staying at the Wyndham - convenient and secluded location, bandit meet, and on-site bar/restaurant, but their rates have gone through the roof since Covid and the free breakfast no longer includes hot food.

Currently checked in(a bit ago), now waiting for dinner at Round the Clock. Weather seems pretty nice, brought the coat, hat and gloves just in case there is one of those wild deals that someone manages to buy resulting in a blizzard. I doubt I'll need the coat.

Been staying at La Quinta for a few years now. Nice place and good hot breakfast. Just the price has gone up especially for Friday night.
Coming on Friday for 1 night this time. Haven’t been to York for a Saturday as deals are there for the few hours.

Staying at LaQuinta this trip.  Heading in now after DCS seminar/dinner.

Gotta get ready for my tables tomorrow but dropped a nice chunk of change at Sheraton 4 Points/ Kenny Post's show earlier today. Very happy with what I got.

Can't wait to see the Blue Hall tomorrow.
