That is some chain Junior is hauling off the workcar. I don't think I would like to get Junior UPSET with me.

Great shots Patrick, I need a break just watching them! And to show that not all my towns folk are out fishing or playing checkers, here's a couple shots of Santa Fe Men at Work in The Town Paradise. ;-) I'll leave the clever names to you Patrick!
And on the other side of town, it's getting late in the day for these Southern Pacific Rail workers!
Getting ready to load up the SP Daylight 5:15PM to San Francisco.
Doh, and just as I thought I had redeemed my little railroad town as hard working, Father and Son have gone fishing! Hey, gotta catch dinner, right?!

Patrick, I love the '48 Tucker (only 51 real Tuckers were made, and they fetch millions of dollars today)! Where did you find the model, very cool and unique! Once again, another surprise on your layout! Great scene, too!

Scott - thank for your complimentary words regarding my " men hard at work " photos! Btw - you have some great shots of folks by the tracks. I love the father/son fishing one too!!
Actually I have about 8 or so Tuckers in several colors. I purchase them at train shows, sometimes new, other times used. Around 1989, I saw an actual Tucker at a Automobile Museum that used to be in Strassburg, Pa. Preston Tucker was ahead of his time, a very forward thinker. His automobiles were wonderfully designed! It's too bad his company was short lived. Because I like Tuckers so much, I have a Tucker - Studebaker - VW dealership on my layout as a tribute to Preston Tucker and his terrific automobile.
Mr.Preston Tucker, dressed in a suit, takes his hat off to new customers.
A salesman in the showroom closes the deal on a brand new Tucker!

Thanks Dallas I can’t believe how they change.
A picture a day, for you Rio Grande fans.
FOR TODAY: A locomotive derailed when it was struck by a runaway loaded boxcar. The two collided as the boxcar, which was sitting on an industrial spur, began to roll toward the main. The car ran through the switch at the time a Patapsco and Back Rivers VO1000, on the main, was approaching the same switch. The boxcar also wound up on the ground but somehow managed to stay upright. The locomotive went over on a 45 degree angle. It took crews all morning to get this mess back on the rails. A huge front end loader was brought in to help right the locomotive.

Patrick, what a great story and photo! I have to add; NTSB arrives and is asking, "So who didn't set the brake on the box car, or is it defective"? Railroad management, "We're still investigating whether or not the brake was functioning per specifications, or if it was simply not set"! And so on for the next two weeks! LoL
Also, the railroad workers might need to use that front end loader to pull that red Ford pickup of the tracks, as it looks high centered.
You always get my imagination going Patrick, keep 'em coming! :-)
WOW great photos everyone! It took me awhile to go back and check them all out, so some of you might have just got a lot of likes from me! LOL
Partick, I know I can come here and always be entertained by what's going on in Patsburg! There is never a dull moment there!
Lee, love the B&W Photo!
Scott, You always have some nice stuff to add to this page! I like it all!
Rob, I really liked your video of your train story! Just wondering if you still live in Yakima?

FOR TODAY: Truck owner/operator Brewster McLeod, leaning against the fender of his new Mack B tractor, chats it up with Linwood James as Linwood moves a barrel to the back side of the loading platform. Ol Brew has completed another run of logs to the railroad and has a few more ahead of him before it's quitting time by golly! He's telling Linwood how much he likes his brand new Mack B tractor!
Meanwhile Hank Leslie and Morty Squires secure the loaded flat car of timber. Squeaky Wheeler gives hand signals to the operator of the big hook. Just another day on the railroad.

Amazing story Patrick. So many stories . Where are they coming from ? That " BOOK " is going to be exceptionally large. Great to get on the forum to see whats new at Patsburg.
Great picture and story Patrick - thanks for posting
Don
@trumpettrain Patrick what a great crew of people that work in Patburg! It seems like everyone there knows there job! The guys on the railway work there butt off, the guys that get the product to the railway bust there butts! But what I really like are the guys that have worked hard and long and know when its time to just go camping or fishing!
I know there not pictured, but I have been fallowing you long enough to know what the guys are doing on there down time! LOL
I agree with everyone else, Pat! You always have a great story that each photograph tells.
Mark, Mike g, Don and Dallas thanks so much for your kind words!
Even diesels need trackside maintenance now and again. It's summer time and it's a bit toasty at 95 degrees F in Paradise! Looks like they are checking out the airlines and the mechanic in the door was just inside that flaming hot engine compartment checking for air leaks! The Santa Fe Chief has to be on time, so the locomotives are still running too, ready to roll! Sounds unpleasant, but that's what these hard working mechanics do! Jobs done, roll 'em out.
I think it's time to weather the mechanics with a good coating of diesel grime for the next photo shoot! ;-)
I know this is, "a picture a day", but happy Western Roads Wednesday!

I'm in agreement with all the wonderful comments about this scene.
I love the new truck and flatbed trailer, the great character names you come up with, there's a lot going on. And as with most of your photos, real world grittiness! I look forward to your posts.

Great story and fantastic photo Scott .
Welcome back Larry! I hope your absence was due to somethin pleasant.
FOR TODAY: Baseball season and a nice cold beer sort of go hand and hand. Here we see a shipment of Bud arriving with the Clydesdale leading the beer wagon to the Patsburg Triple Railers Stadium. The Triple Railers owner, Slugger Dawson, likes to have plenty of beer on hand for the fans. Ol Slugger knows for a fact that attendance is always much better when there is plenty of beer flowing. He figures these two car loads of Bud will get him and the fans through a couple of games before the next shipment arrives.
Here we see Gabby Gleason at the reigns of the beer wagon, Carter Dean standing in the reffer doorway, with Ol Slugger himself whispering to the Clydesdale ( whose name is Hoofer ) and Lumpy Larson directing traffic. Btw- The Patsburg Triple Railers are the finest class AA team in these here parts! Make no mistake about it!!

Patrick, Patsburg is a happening place! I'm thinking about hopping on the California Zephyr and begin a trip out to Patsburg for some beer, Billiards, and Baseball. LoL Great photos! :-) I'll have to wait though, Western Pacific in Paradise is waiting for the delivery of a brand new F7 ABA set from EMD. More on that later. Happy Friday!

Excellent scene, Pat! I'll bet the Patsburg Triple Railers AA team could beat my Pittsburgh Pirates any day of the week.
Hi Guys,
WOW Both Scott and Patrick have such great stories to go with there photos! It's so fun to read!
Larry, there is nothing new I can say about your photos, they are always amazing!
I hope you all have a great weekend!
FOR TODAY: Late Friday afternoon Lower Patsburg team tracks .... Heard with a loud whisper "Psssstt! Hey Vernon! Vernon!! Quit dragging the gol dang pallet around and get up in this boxcar with me John Boy! We don't want the boss to see us. It's less than 30 minutes to quiten time and we've worked ourselves to the bone all day! Let's just take it easy until 4p.m. and sit up in this boxcar on our butts." ... Just another day on the railroad.

Patrick, the F7's arrived! LoL Seriously, they arrived today on my front porch. Woohoo! Now I have the F7's to pull the California Zephyr. Here's a photo of the WP F7 ABA set on my layout, and a video of the F7's picking up the Cal Zephyr passenger cars. See you soon! ;-)
By the way, the photo with Vernon and John Boy is fantastic. I thought I was there watching these two guys trying to catch a break! Great shot!

Scott - congratulations on your new set of F7s!! They look and sound fantastic!!
FYI - I gave direct orders to the FSJR chief dispatcher to immediately green light your train all the way to Patsburg once those F7s are on the FSJR rails. On the Patsburg Union Station approach tracks your train will be switched to track one and I will meet you on platform one. As those F7s roll into the station the town band will strike up a tune! The entire cast of characters ( Lumpy Larson, John Boy, Junior Scruggins, etc. ) along with myself will be there to greet you. I'll put your luggage in the trunk of my new Tucker Torpedo and whisk you off to your hotel suite, compliments of the Free State Junction Railway.
Slugger Dawson has tickets for us to attend a Patsburg Triple Railers double header with all the beer and hotdogs we can consume. ( Do make sure you come during baseball season because our football team The Patsburg Pussy Cats is not very good .... they lost 3 games to the Little Sisters of the Poor last season. )
It's not everyday a sleek A-B-A set of F7s pulling the California Zephyr and it's owner arrives in Patsburg!! So Scott, you are welcome anytime! Be assured you will receive the red carpet treatment!
