A Problem Child Engine

You have to make sure that the loco is set to either Cab 1 or tmcc control in the legacy remote, and railsounds 4/5. It is under the info tab when you have the two digit id number of the locomotive selected. If it is set to Legacy control mode it will not respond.

It's set to TMCC and RS.  I've actually run it in cab1 mode too.  The problem persists regardless.

My only idea is perhaps you have an issue with the signal strength of the Legacy base.  I run most of my stuff through the Legacy base, but I have a couple of TMCC bases in test rigs and on my workbench.  I have never had any issues swapping between them, the symptoms you describe are not normal.

Thanks guys.  I'll try reseating the boards and such.  It's odd that one day it works fine, then it "forgets".  Regardless, the rpm increase with speed has never worked right since we went to Legacy.  You know, there is a switch for sound/no sound on this engine.  Maybe I need to cycle that a few times too.  Is TMCC native to the 990 now?  Is that why they don't send out TMCC modules anymore?  It's in the menu, so I would think that would be the case.

The penny just dropped!  I believe that's a known bug, I just forgot all about it!  It has to do with the fact that the TMCC BASE1 only sends relative commands, and the Legacy command base sends both relative and absolute commands, even in CAB1 emulation.  I remember a discussion on this point, it just slipped my mind.

So John, do you think we should run her under CAB1 emulation or TMCC?

I have observed a couple engines that don't properly maintain the RPM when you are moving, might be the same thing.

Thanks John!  That thread is very informative indeed!  I'll use this information to do some more testing on the cab2 settings.  Sounds to me like she would prefer the cab1 setting in the engine profile.

cab1 setting - try Aux1 + 0  horn should sound - resets the direction to forward and sets engine rpm's to automatic page 14    engine reset on page 17
