Since I find myself posting more short videos than pictures, always using my smartphone that is so convenient, it made sense to me to start this thread.
I will start us off with this Williams scale NY Central diesel and scale freight cars and caboose, which I rarely run on my long and narrow switching layout:

Great video Arnold. I usually run short trains with pre/post war cars. Here is a Kline GG1 with a longer train..modern easy rolling cars.

Here is my 2343 pulling a mixed load of PW and MPC cars, while my “war train” skulks by in the background..
And this is my new Berkshire Jr. pulling a string of easy rolling MPC (mostly) cars..

Operating catenary is one of the most challenging model railroad projects IMO. Thumbing through back issues of OGR magazine (I'm so glad I saved mine for about 30 years), there are excellent articles about it. Articles by Ron Zweig, Phil Klopp, Eliot Scher and Don Mcquaig come immediately to mind. Arnold
Arnold & Fendermain, I know of the catenary models made by the experts as in OG railroading magazine. My basic catenary will re evolve once the basic layout is up. I am either looking into another table extension as the former layout, or daring to consider a second basic upper level, catenary included. I have already cleaned and restored about half the catenary/telegraph posts. I found that the only thing about catenary poles is one Must be Mindful when accessing the interior of said layout. Ask me how I know! Lol.

Arnold, In the last second of the thief in your video , where the video stops there appears a visual posssibility that the gantry crane might swing around and take out the perp! Stop that man! Radio the crane operator! Lol.
running on train car roofs is definitely a postwar activity. But, what the heck, crane interventions could be part of that!

Patrick, I enjoyed watching the action on FSJ Ry. All I've ever seen was pictures to this point! Lots of action in and around Patsburg today!

Watching this video again, I noticed that the outlaw is on a trestle near the mail pick-up accessory. He must be carrying a sack of mail, and that makes it a Federal Crime. We need to get the FBI involved! LOL

Hello Fendermain - from the sound, or lack of it, on your video, it sounds like your gateman is very quiet. Is he? Are you running him on DC? Or is the sound just covered up by the delightful clickety-clack rhythm of wheels hitting O gauge track joints?

GeoPeg Thanks for asking...very quiet. It is currently running with track voltage...insulated rail trigger. Unlike some of my trackside devices, that one responds well to different voltages. I may go to soleniod activation fixed voltage with a wiring revamp next year.
The sound provided by sectional tubular track is to me quite soothing.
Hey Arnold..possible topic..how do our forum members activate trackside devices.

I believe model railroading is a dynamic, as opposed to a static, art form. Nancy Sinatra said "these boots are made for walking," and I say: "these trains are made for running." Other than being present while the trains are in action, a video best captures what our trains are made to do. Arnold

When shooting the video, I find that the lower I can get the camera, the more dramatic it can be:
Ideally, position the camera (smartphone for me) so it's looking up at the train. Arnold
