My first memory is C&O hopper cars rolling through Ashland Ky while I stood on the front seat of Dad's new 57 Rambler!
And now my grand daughters favorite thing to say is 'Papa's (me) choochoo' every time she see a train....and has a Brio set she loves......
Re: "MODEL RAILROAD DISEASE"
Reminds me of another sign - "My wife said if I buy one more train, she'll leave me. Boy, I'll miss her."
Way too late. Have reefer madness too.

I have it too. Can I take anything?
my wife thinks i have it to
not just adults, I'm only 12 and I have it horrible! Anything out there for my
NYC-itis? Can't stay away from my 20th Century!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now ya tell me!
can only be treated by bi-annual trips to York PA! there is no known cure!
I have the disease and there is no cure. My Grandson's call me Grandpa Choo-Choo. One time they sent me a birthday card & they wrote Grandpa cho cha instead. I had to explain to my daughter what that meant. I was laughing my head off, watching her get all red when I explained it.
That's a common disease -- "Railpox" Watch out, though, because some women get the disease outright, while others are carriers.
I got a BAD case of the O Gauge Virus, back around 2005. While it can be Highly contagous(to ALL ages, I have 3 Nephews afflicted to various degrees, one who will likely be afflicted for LIFE.) It is RARELY Fatal (unless your Wife catches you buying another Vision Line Locomotive). There is no known cure, but periodic purchases of rolling stock do seem to help lessen the symptoms, and a new locomotive may be necessary in the case of a severe outbreak.

WOW!! That did show up in my blood work!
...keep the rails polished...
I'm glad York is coming up next week 'cause I need a fix real bad!
yes i have it too. so does my niece and nephew. as i like to say i do not suffer from it i enjoy ever minute of it.
I heard it's covered under several of the better (ahem, more expensive) health plans. . "Premiums" are on "Track" to be some of the highest ever offered.
What a terrible attempt at humor

Bandomnjr,
There is no cure but it usually goes into remission around the age of 16 to 20 only to return with a vengance later in life.

Pete

There is a cure, and only one....it's called poverty.
Trains RMe
Reminds me of another sign - "My wife said if I buy one more train, she'll leave me. Boy, I'll miss her."
Did she leave the dog? Every man needs something live that loves him.

I caught the disease from my grandfather alongside the right of way of the CN&W where he would pull his Pontiac over to the side of the road for that frightening and awesome steam creature, that bellowed, hissed and looked like a mechanical cat slinking along two rails with fire and smoke. We stood by, and he would say,as we got into the car "Isnt that something?" Its multi-generational. I always waved at cabooses as a kid, always dreamed of distant places..its hard to resist and theres no cure. Thank heavens.
Actually, somebosy said model rails have a lower percent of having other adiction issues, because the cost of the addition means less money for trains!
Gosh maybe we can bring in an expert to help us all out!
HEY SCOTT!

I think its an epidmic!!!
My dad had it, I have it, my son has it and my grand children have it. Its either contagious or hereditary in nature. Diagnosis is easy but there is no known cure for it at this time.
The disease dies seem to ward off wives, girlfriends and anyone who else who attempts to take your trains away.

I have it too. Can I take anything?
Yes you can, Run, run as fast as you can to the closest Hobby Shop and get yourself a Reefer.

That creates another problem -- "Reefer Madness" -- which infected several 3-railers and 2-railers with a vengeance and made outrageous sales numbers for Atlas.
Yup! You gotta watch that early-teen remission! Lots of train-related mistakes
there, like selling/giving away collections. Been-there-done-that . . . .
