I just dove in this week. A new cab-2 controller, and AC commander for grandpa's 736 Berkshire. I'm having trouble getting the throttle to work correctly. I'm able to go forward and reverse, but the throttle is either full on or off and it's going the first tick or two. Ken from electric rr suggested I make sure I'm running my engine in cab-1 mode. I'm pretty sure I've tried them all with no luck. Any suggestions?

I would check the antenna first. I would then reprogram the engine and make sure you hit the correct Aux (number) after that. If you don't you might get that kinds of erratic behavior.
Ran through reprogramming again and that was it. Thanks!
Another question: what's the deal with setting the 32 or 100 steps?
The ElectricRR instructions that say "AUX1+0+AUX1+0+BOOST", is this intended for the CAB-1 remote or setting the train configuration with the program switch on?

100 steps will make for smoother acceleration and deceleration than 32 steps.
I swapped out the older LCRU2 for the AC Commander in my Lionel Phantom dual-motor upgrade, it was like night and day between them. The AC Commander gave me MUCH better and smoother control all across the speed ranges.
