Does anyone do this ? I like my Marx locomotives, but nice 4-axle cars are difficult to find. But there is an overabundance of nice S scale rolling stock from several manufacturers. I need smaller rolling stock for my 4 x 8 layout, but I like O Gauge. Any comments?

Have fun! Post some pictures after you convert a few cars.
I've converted K-Line S cars to O gauge by replacing the trucks. The K-Line cars are actually O gauge cars.
I've converted some S scale cars to prewar 3/16" O gauge cars by swapping trucks. The Virginian hopper and MP stock car are retrucked S cars.
The Cities Service tank car and Sears boxcar are retrucked Marx 3/16" scale cars. This gives me some variety; Marx tank cars are nicer than Flyer's.
Looks like you used the pre-war Gilbert trucks for the conversion. That would be the best alternative since many of these cars were originally designed to run on those trucks.
