It's frustrating watching shipping dates constantly slide.  Originally the Fasttrack switches were supposed to be out before the 2012 holidays.  They then moved the date to April 2013, and then back another month to May.  I waited all May to get my switches and then on June 7th they moved the date to December.  I figured when it moved from April to May they were real close to release but now bumping it back all the way to December tells me something is a problem with the production.  Anyone have any idea what is going on with American Flyer and Fasttrack?

This is just speculation on my part but, I wonder if they were pushed back to be produced with the command control switches and the manual switches that were announced in the 2013 catalog. I will admit that not having the switches out seems like a big mistake on Lionel's part. This is a little different than a locomotive or freight car being pushed back, can't build a layout without switches. On a related note I read on the Yahoo board that Lionel fixed the compatibility issue with the fast track and older flyer (Lionel and gilbert). A change of some sort has reportedly been made to keep the loco pic up shoe from slipping of the rail on the inside of a curve, this was causing derailments and shorts. It would be nice if someone from Lionel would chime in on this one.... Ben
