I have some questions regarding the No. 13 Type XIV. I picked out one for Christmas that comes with a red 119. Can anyone tell me more about these wind up engines, especially the No. 13?
I'm afraid that my knowledge of AF history is lacking, so I can't be of any help with year built/set information/etc. I believe that the No. 13 has one of the best types of AF windup mechanisms, though... the ones I have seen have good governors and strong motors. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of it!
Check out the article on the popular AF #13 clockwork loco in Hal Carstens publication, Toy Trains of Yesteryear. The article is located on pages 13-15, authored by Dr. Case Kowal. It originally appeared in Toy Trains magazine.
