I have two of the locomotives pulling about 12 Amtrak cars, operating in Conventional mode. The one is issue is that it simply stopped moving. It powered on, but refuses to move forward (it is set for forward only). I have tried reverse as well, to no avail. I have lubricated the gears on the trucks and have removed the shell to look and feel the motors. Both turn freely and cause the corresponding wheels to turn. However, when placed on the track, this particular 505 advances incredibly slowly, if at all. The other 505 runs just fine. Unfortunately, these are so high tech anymore that servicing them is nearly impossible.
My question is, is there something relatively simple that could cause this? It is not a dead spot in the track. I have checked that and the other 505 runs great.
If nothing easy comes to mind, what are my options? I would like to have it serviced if I cannot make it run, but don't know who services these in the north Dallas (Allen, 75013) area. If anyone knows of a quality Lionel service center or someone familiar with this type of locomotive, please let me know. In the mean time, it is off the track. Thank you very much.
