I'm thinking of doing a second level with On30. I did it on my last layout and really like the On30.
Lets ts see how you did it.

Our new layout will have 2- 3rail lines, a On30 line and I am looking into a 009 line. Can not wait, this will give us a reason to by other scales. I did just buy our 1st On3o a 0-4-2 porter. Nick
I am planning an On30 tourist line on our 2 rail layout. It's a good way to get some passenger operations into a tight space.
I've been considering some On30 as well. Perhaps a small logging operation.
David, an On30 loop can make a delightful addition to your layout. Here are a couple of shots of my setup which is on a higher level than the O gauge trains in a mountain setting. Just remember that these are scale trains and still require a good sized radius for your curves. I have a 24" minimum radius on mine.
Looks good PeterA, That is what I am looking to have, Thanks for reminding me about the required room for curves. Nick
Jim,
what is the radius of your On30?
thanks,
dave
My logging operation will be On30. It's a natural for a narrow gauge operation.
I originally thought about running On30 side by side with my standard gauge O, but as time went by I cooled on the idea.

Definite plans for an On30 coming off a mountain cliff feeding the mainline with raw materials, and a few passenger heads to count. An elevated depot above the mainline. A crane is a definite, but a dump is possible if I go with mining instead of logging. A passenger car will exist, but only one. Maybe a cupola on a passenger car? I wished real hard today, but it didn't help. Really all I need is a locomotive, but other good stuff keeps finding me first.
I Have O on the main layout with On-30 running on the mountain in the middle and just started making O-9.

Jim,
what is the radius of your On30?
thanks,

Dave,
It's about 19" radius. I used HO flex track with every other tie removed for a little better appearance.
