Here's a Lionel shovel kit I just finished. I added brass grabs and rails as well as the correct ladder then aged it a little. I also added glass in all windows and expanded metal for an engine vent. I would add cab interior but it wouldn't be seen very easily.

Now the one thing I never liked about those kits was the creeper tracks. I made mine out of styrene here is an example of both I know it's not a Lionel kit which I have two waiting for me to build, craneScrap Metal Yard 110 maybe this thread is what I need to inspire me. Thanks Roo.

ROO, always nice to see you photos and posts.  Cool metal yard magnet-crane.

I too miss Ben Brown. Thanks for sharing one of his treasures. Happy to see it.

SIRT, Lionel transformed  Staten Island style! Cool.

Rustyrail O scale. Amazing what dulled paint and weathering can do. Nice job.

My last shelved project was a rail marine dredger. A Big shovel on a scow! Scow built, machinery house built, but support towers, lots of cables and hoists and the big bucket  waiting for a resumed effort.

So this was motivating. Thanks guys!
