That's the problem, Barry.  I don't want to tear the GG1 apart and install this kit just to find out there are no sound/control files available to load and make it work.  Sounds like I have a "worthless kit" from MTH unless it could be used to upgrade some other Proto locomotive?

Kind of sad MTH would make it obsolete already ...

Your Song Chuan number is the Relay which controls motor direction.  I don't think there's a correlation between the brand/type of Relay used and memory size.

 

If you can look on the bottom of the board with the Song Chuan part, there is one big black chip that is the memory and its numbers will tell you 1 or 2 Meg.
