Well, I was somewhat reticent to let the kids loose on my layout until I saw a friend hand the cab to a kid and tell him to have at it. I learned something there...odd though since I grew up sticking hairpins into the electrical sockets and dismantling radios that did not work and pluging them in to see if I improved anything. The layout is pretty well protected as to highspeed breakers, ground protection, etc. So the only thing I need is to repair something that hits the floor...and the kids can have fun and learn...and I'm in the room or the next room.

I'm gonna get one of those new ZW-Ls. That's the least I can do since Lionel invested the time and expense to bring it to market...and I can relive that feeling I had when I first saw one in a catalog back in the 50s. 28 pounds eh? And a dollar a watt...I love it!

Now that the ZW L is out, are there any comments about the product? The manual does not say much about setting the ZW L up or its many features.<<

It's big, heavy, expensive, and capable. Not sure if it can do anything other less expensive transformers can't.

But, it sure is pretty...

I think for some, the only negitive are the circuit breakers placed at a difficult to reach spot on the rear.
