Am admitting my ineptness here, yet after removing numerous screws on the chassis of my Lionel Milw. Road S-3 (6-84067), I am unable to separate the boiler from the chassis, and I don't want force it and break anything. All I want to do is to confirm that the motor/motor mounts are securely fastened and nothing else is loose.

This model is a newer one from Lionel that has the nicer and prototypical underside-round boiler, and thus perhaps involves a different disassembly technique, but am not certain. If its too involved or involves considerable skill, I'll likely forgo the exercise and hope for the best.

Thanks.

Paul: I have any original first issue #261 from CY2009(?). The one time I had to open it to get the steam cylinder smoke working due to  disconnected smoke tube, the "engineer" and "fireman" figures in the cab were my biggest obstacle to boiler and cab removal. Once I had the engineer removed, the cab would clear the chassis and allow removal. Be VERY careful of the handrail stanchions as I broke one near the front steps in the process and still haven't been able to procure any from Lionel.
