Anyone put Kadees on Kline Hoppers

   Fairly easy. The trucks come off with screws and there are holes already for the couplers. I forget how many shims are needed. The claw comes off easy as I kept the three rail trucks.

All my K-Line Die cast hoppers have Kadees on the.  Real easy install.

I've been following this topic too because I was also wondering. Im pretty new to 3RS (couplers showing up this week). Correct me if I am mistaken, but some of the older K-line models do not have the pre drilled holes. I checked and of the 6 I have, the 3 woodsided have the pre drilled holes but the steel sided do not appear to have them.

The K-Line die cast hoppers are very close to the old Lionel cars.  To really make them look good one needs the 700- series bolster castings.  I was able to buy a couple pair from a really nice guy in New York, but generally had to make them from brass.

I converted some for others, and simply made brass shims, but I remember that as being a task for the end mill.  Too bad nobody has yet resurrected the 700 freight cars exactly.  It would be so easy, considering how close they have come.

Here is the Lionel full scale hopper, on Lionel trucks with Lionel couplers.  Even better than K-Line.  They were so close - all they needed was the trucks and bolster castings.
