Wish I could have got here sooner.

Here's the deal:  I recently bought MTH Santa Fe F7's with PS3, one is powered and the other is unpowered BUT HAS center rail pickups for the working headlight (a perfect config for trains with cabs at both ends).  If MTH makes this config for your FA, you're there!

Now to belabor the point:

It is non-powered. It is not a "slave".  It is free rolling.  It has working lights. No sound. No smoke. The diapragm hinges down to reveal headlight controls.

Now the question is does the trailing "unpowered" A unit have remote operating couplers?

More important.   Will that  pricey new MTH A-A set with just 2 motors pull a string of passenger cars?  My Lionel F-3  A-A set with two motors won't pull 5 Lionel aluminum cars around curves without spinning the wheels.  But, my MTH E-6  A-B-A set with 4 motors will pull those 5 cars plus 4 more with no problem.  IMO,  The only way to buy MTH cab units is pay up and get both units powered.
