Atlas O SD40 Refuses to Move | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

My friend Chris (LehighValleyRailroad) ran into an issue with one his Atlas O SD40 locomotives.

The engine's lights and sounds come on fine when you start it up, but anytime you want to move it, it refuses to move. All that happens is the horn blows. Chris told me that he reset the locomotive many times, but to no avail. When he tried to run it in a lash up as a rear locomotive, the same thing happened.

Chris thinks the R2LC board might be bad and need to be changed. I think it could be an issue with the program/run switch wiring.

Any insight is welcome.

An update: After doing a reset, it its 100% fine in forward, as soon as its in reverse, the horn just blows as soon as the red dial is turned.

Sounds like time to swap the R2LC and see if that changes things.
