Recently picked up this car - took it out of the box this morning to find this
Over the years I’ve heard nothing but wonderful reports about everything Atlas - never anything about possible truck issues ( Zink rot ??? )
Also recently purchased this Cylindrical Frisco hopper - fingers crossed 🤞

PS - I removed the truck from the Erie hopper car and it just crumbled apart in my hand 😳

Atlas has had a number of freight car truck and coupler failures over the years. Boxcars and express reefers come to mind. Not all years just a few here and there.

I’d be concerned if it was a no longer available part. It sucks seeing you have to buy new trucks. But there are many sources for them.
These things seem to happen in certain runs. I have a number of 55 ton hoppers that have had the frames crumble into pieces. All from the same production run.
I have dozens of Atlas O cars, and have not had any problem with them. Years ago had some couplers crumble on several frontrunners, but that's all I can remember. I wouldn't worry at all that Atlas O cars have significant truck issues. And replacement trucks are available in the rare event there's a problem.
I haven't had undue problems with Atlas O cars and locomotives. The pilot on an old F3 diesel developed zinc pest several years ago. The model was supplied with a full scale pilot in addition to the 3-rail version, so I replaced it and run the model on an O-72 loop. No evident problems with any of the freight cars.
