Dear Atlas Insider,

We want to let you know about an exclusive “Atlas Insider” special event coming next month. Atlas will be opening their warehouse doors on Saturday, December 8th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for a HUGE, ONE-DAY BLOWOUT SALE. The sale will be located in our Norman Street warehouse in Hillside, NJ.

Now is your chance to get your hands on Atlas products spanning the last 20 years at significant, discounted pricing on N, HO and O scale locomotives, freight cars, body shells, structures, track and more.

This is a CASH ONLY event.

You must RSVP to be allowed entry into the sale.  Click here to RSVP to the sale

Be on the lookout for weekly updates on what products will be featured along with pricing examples and other important details.

So, if I am reading it right, you have to get a bag full of cash and travel to Norman Street in Hillside NJ to participate in this event after you RSVP. That's interesting. Some of the test samples and prototypes might become valuable due to their uniqueness. It would be a good chance to stock up on track especially. I like their O gauge track system.

What's interesting about it?  They are having a cash only sale at their warehouse.  Seems pretty straight forward.  I've already RSVP'd.  Now I need to find some cash!

I hate these kind of train sales. I sure do not plan to travel 1500 miles one way to buy stuff on sale. Lionel pulls the same crap with their warehouse sale. I wonder how many potential buyers they are ignoring with these "warehouse" sales?

How about doing a warehouse sale online, so everyone who wants to browse and purchase can do so? You can still cut out the middleman/dealer costs with an online sale.

Oh well, I can keep all that money in my bank account instead of spending it with Atlas or Lionel.

A business in the model car hobby had a warehouse sale online not a few weeks ago. Here's the issue.

I got on their site, found a number of items I wanted, moved them to my basket. I'd go to check out and half the items were 'no longer available' as someone else bought it. I did this a number of times.....in the end I got two items....none of the items I was really wanting.......so online with items in limited numbers is very difficult to make work well.

I would imagine, from Atlas's standpoint, they'd prefer to empty out  as much of the warehouse as possible without the hassle (and expense) of having to pack and ship everything.  An online sale, obviously, would be much more work.

Should be done like an auction:

They get your credit card info upfront.

You put the item in your cart.. automatically sold...inventory updated.

No change of heart..its sold.

That could be done....but the 'man hours' required to set all that up would eliminate most profits IMHO Only!!

To far or I'd love to go.......hope we get a report.

Same here.

How much would we have purchased if they had just put it up for sale? Not like they don't have boxes! 😂

CASH sales provide great benefits!!!

Yep! While those of us geographically unsuitable would like to attend all these sales we do understand they are to raise cash and make space.

Not exactly the best neighborhood to be wandering around with a bag full of cash...
