Hi all, looking for some help confirming what I believe to be a bad R2LC board. My 3rd Rail B&M R-1a Mountain won’t respond to tmcc commands or take programming. Engine sounds start up when power is applied to the track. Runs great in conventional when I disconnect TMCC, won’t run in conventional with TMCC connected, so it must be picking up the signal. I reseated the R2LC but same problem. I don’t have an item number for it, but it’s number 4100 from the 2005 catalog. Here’s a picture of the R2LC. The last time few times I’ve run this engine it had to be reprogrammed each time.

Any help is greatly appreciated

If you had to reprogram it each time you ran, it sure sounds like the R2LC is dying.  That would obviously be my top suspect from your description.  The picture shows a bog standard R2LC-C08, the most common version.

If you have another TMCC locomotive, try swapping the R2LC into the problem loco, if it runs, that's the issue.  You can also put the suspect R2LC into the other locomotive and see what result you get.
