best clear coat for woods enamels

I'm in the process of restore 4 3656 lionel cattle corrals I've beaded and painted all parts using charles woods

paints. The final finish is beautiful. But, It does seem as the accessory green does not have the sheen of a

original. Did Lionel clear coat the corral after painting.

I have considered clear coating the corral base,etc. Any recommendations for a clear coat over enamal.

Something with a hard durable finish?

shawn, I don't believe there was a clear coat back then other than lacquer which does not mix with enamel. I doubt they used any clear coating on anything. I would use any spray acrylic clear coat if you needed to.
