Hey all - as summer nears and finally having several nice display shelves up, I'm wondering what the best room conditions are to keep the trains safe. The room in general doesn't face too much sunlight, but it can get hot. From what I've read, I should keep the room at about 50%-60% humidity, keep it as cool as possible, and keep room lights to a minimum. Just wanted to double check that was good advice or anything I might be missing. Thanks!

Room lighting doesn't do the kind of fast damage the direct sunlight can. Sun-fading of paints, plastics made brittle/fading, takes little time.

Damage can also creep in by quick air temp. changes, as sunlight hits and warms the air very fast, and the cool metal attracts condensation like a cold glass of iced tea, and after micro-dew drops. maybe rust.

Cooler isn't as important as lower humidity, and consistency of humidity

& temp., and slowing the changes in them.

Turning items to face the other direction, once in a while over time is a good idea too. Other wise one side could become noticeably lighter than the other.

Behind glass is nice for dust purposes, and you could even find UV block for any real jems.

Wood use, if not fully sealed, can help stabilize the humidity some too.
