Sorry folks, but this may have been asked before: I seem to have everything up to date, Version 1.51, but there are blinking red lights on the base unit, after everything is powered up. I use rechargeables, green type from R Shack, and  batteries seem to be all charged. Why do the lights keep blinking red?  This seems to happen when Cab 2 is off the base also. The base had been sent back to L, when L had a call back many moons ago. I'm sure the base is set to rechargeable position. I could read the manual, but reading post here always appears to give better answers. Everything really works fine and I could probably ignore the lights, but what's goin on? thanks.

Chris is right, the charging circuit needs to be replaced.  I had to send both of mine in for the upgrade.

It's normal for the lights to be very dim with no remote in the base, I'm thinking that's actually light bleeding in from the other lights in the unit.

The condition where the two red lights come on steady is an error. Both of mine would never complete a charge, but rather always terminate with the dual flashing red lights.

From the Legacy Manual.

You actually need two of everything that Lionel sells, one to use while the other is in repair shop.

that is really un called for. you sound like that person, who I can not name, that used to post nothing but negativity about the lionel legacy system.

FWIW, my TIU is in the MTH shop to fix the missing DCS signal, it's not just Legacy.

This is one known issue that has plagued the Legacy system, and it's actually pretty easily addressed if you don't want to bother with the recharging.  Uus Alkaline batteries, or for longer life the Lithium ones, and you can also recharge the batteries in an external charger.

Since there is no recharging capability of the MTH DCS remote, I don't see this as a huge issue.  If you do away with charging in the remote, you're no worse off than if you use DCS.
