Last weekend I was out on a rail fanning trip to western Illinois, mainly the BNSF Galesburg main, and the Ottumwa main, but did get a side jaunt to the BNSF Fort Madison line.   The famous Media trestle is in the process of being replaced with a new style similar to the new bridges west of Princeton, and just to the east of Wyanet, Ill., on the Galesburg mainline.   So in a nut shell...the bridges days are numbered.   There are already new piers up, with new abutments to follow.   Deck most likely will be a deck girder style in Cor-Ten steel, with a concrete ballasted deck.   It will still be a great photo spot once the construction debris is gone, and the weeds grow back, just not the classic ATSF steel bridge that once was.....

No, I did not.  It was late afternoon, plus the site is somewhat inaccessible due to barricades, and other construction equipment, as there are 4 huge cranes on site.  Would be better shots with a drone!    Plus, there was nothing close, as far as trains go.    I have shot some slides years ago from the farm on the northwest side of the bridge, but will wait until this project is finished before doing anymore shots.      And, I had only my medium format camera equip. with me, I did not bring my digital camera on this trip.
