While reading through The chapter on clubs in Bantam books “Model Railroading” by Lionel, they talked about Bob McKeand’s NYC model railroad. Apparently it started with tracks laid in cement on the basement floor (so you could walk on them with no damage), climbing upwards of 10’ then exiting the basement to a station under the front porch. From there it traveled around the house on both sides, through the back yard, and terminating in the garage. Scenery wasn’t much but the operation was. 
Does anyone have any pictures or more info on this layout? I think it would be cool to see if any exist.
