Wow memory ville, that Gon, look like the one that came in my first HO set (still have it) some sixty five years ago, and if there is a better Diesel then a GP30 don't try to tell me about it
@naresar posted:New NKP Berkshire courtesy of Mr Muffins. Didn't need a new Berk but I do have a soft spot for the Bellevue railroad museum.
If we didn't buy what we didn't need there would be no hobby, and everyone needs a smooth running Steamer, just to watch the drive train itself
My subway binge buying continues. Lucked out with scoring two unused MTH sets to add to my storage collection for the future subway layout.
The R34 version with blue doors of the “R11 Million Dollar Train” (20-2934-1) was a NOS on FeeBay and the R40 Slant (20-21143-1) is a brand new set that I purchased from Mario’s Trains. Came across the R40 by chance and snapped it up immediately.
Speaking of the Million Dollar Train, here are some photos that I took of the scale R11 cutaway model at the New York Transit Museum
@Strap Hanger, hang on for the ride!
Very Nice score Kevin.... Beautiful set...
Exquisite, but what is keeping them boxed up. as Bo Diddley would say "you got to let the boys run," Find a hill build a block house so you don't get Hurricane out and lets get moving

@Guttersnipe - I believe that you were responding to me. The trains are being kept boxed up because I don’t have a layout. With the exception of a couple models, subway sets are very hard to come by and sometimes can be very pricey. So until that layout gets built, I have to jump on the opportunity to get them so that I’m not hunting later when I have the layout. In the meantime, I will probably give them some run time at one of my trains clubs that runs O Gauge trains. When running them on grade level at the club layout, I will just imagine them running on the Staten Island Railway, LOL.
Very nice, @Amfleet25124 ! Christmas certainly came early in November. Love the R40 and the blue door R34 is one of my favorites. If you are able to secure an R32, running them in a mixed consist looks great with the matching blue doors on both. That multi track future layout is going to need some beautiful large diameter curves with all your new MTH premier subways!
Yeah I was actually picking on you. Feeling my old age, many of us, don't know how many tomorrow's we got, so I'm begging you to enjoy them sooner rather that later hence the Block house on top of a hill in Florida, Good luck be with you

Great buys guys, and this is a great topic as everyone likes different products, so it’s a very interesting topic. I finally received my new Lionel Legacy A5 9-4-0 Steam switcher. It’s awesome, ran great out of the box, has the necessary plug from the tender to the locomotive, along with the close coupling draw bar, Wow, Happy Railroading Everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to…. It’s the B&O version.
@Kevin - Enjoy your new subway purchases. I don't know much about the subway's, although I rode them most of my young life living in urban NJ. I do enjoy your posts however. Thanks for posting.

My most recent purchase arrived today via FedEx, and yes it arrived in one piece in a completely undamaged box, too! Yay! Trainz offered this one on eBay, as I think Southern Pacific has a modest market with model railroaders and Trainz needed more exposure. It was orginally listed at catalog list price, and then they dropped the asking price, so I snagged it.
I love Northern4-8-4 steam engines, particularly SP GS series. I already have 2 GS series, SP Daylight 4415 GS-2, Western Pacific GS-64, and now my new to me black SP GS-2 4412. 4412 was originally purchased for the Daylight servicde around 1937 and was painted in Daylight colors. As Daylight passenger service began to dwindle in the 50's it was put into GS, or General Service. When it was a Daylight locomotive is was GS - Golden State. 4412 actually ended up in San Francisco to San Jose Peninsula Commute service until scrapped in 1956.
Here's some photos. It looks and runs like brand new. It has a little dust on it, I'm thinking is spent it's life out of the box on display and not on the tracks. It shows no wear of being on the tracks and had never been lubricated. Lubrication was the first thing to due after programming the TMCC Legacy Cab2. Runs awesome!!!
Tomorrow for Front End Friday, all 3 of my GS series in a photo.
The GS series, particularly the 4, is my favorite medium sized locomotives and I love steam, but Southern's Ps 4 does give it a run for the money.
I purchased an Atlas O Premier Unlettered 70-foot Heavyweight Observation Car(3007040) from forum sponsor MrMuffin’s Trains.
I have several New York Central and Boston & Albany engines for which I don’t have a matching set of Pullman Green passenger cars so I bought this unlettered observation car to run as a single unit behind those locomotives. The car was made in 2021 and it was the last one in stock at MrMuffin’s. I plan to leave it unlettered.

How about lettering it President MELGAR
Just received my MTH Imperial ES44ac. Absolutely gorgeous in the black and gold scheme. This is a custom run from the train loft, too bad I can't post a picture of it!

I bought New Haven Alco RS-3 #527 (MTH 30-2897-1, PS2-3 Volt, June 2009, $299.95) for $150 at the Cheshire, CT train show on 11-24-2024. It’s like new and had never been run. Although I consulted the exploded view on the MTH Parts website, I didn’t realize that this engine has the battery in the fuel tank. Once I figured that out, replacing the battery with a BCR2 took only a few minutes, and I gave it a brief test run that checked out OK. It seems that there are quite a few New Haven O gauge collectors in Connecticut and items that are like new and have never been run do turn up for sale.
This engine doesn't have a smoke unit. I think the PS3 versions of the Railking RS-3 do. Doesn't matter to me. I never run smoke.
I attended the show just to walk around and see what people are doing in the hobby. I didn’t intend to buy an engine…

Want to take a look at a bridge in Brooklyn Mel?
Looks like my Atlas that I put a Lionchef board in. I like the Orange/ green paint and the old New Haven and Hartford logo.

Bob,
Bridges are expensive to maintain, kind of like steam locomotives, but I might consider a tunnel!
Atlas O also made #531, which is the one I have and usually run for switcher Saturday.
I used to think that the orange color in the New Haven's orange/black/white paint scheme originated with McGinnis in 1955 but it didn't. The NHRR was painting diesels green/orange in the late 1940s and 1950 - Alco FAs, PAs, RS-1s and RS-3s - several years before McGinnis became president.
Notice that the exhaust stack on your #560 runs fore/aft but the one on my #527 runs side-to-side. Some turbochargers were air-cooled and some were water-cooled. I think the #527 was air-cooled and the #560 was water-cooled. I will check that and correct it if it's incorrect.
Here's another view of my "new" #527.

Mel, it's a good thing you had cash on hand, you never know what you're going to find at a show. Some times you find the best things when you're not expecting it.

Just added to the roster is a former Lionel 2343 Santa Fe F-3 which was professionally painted in Reading Company livery. I was very fortunate to win the bid on the bay. The shop crew was excited about the new acquisition and they did an inspection and a quick maintenance turnaround just in time for this evenings load line.

Very nice Jay. Although a repaint over a Santa Fe is bordering on sacrilege.....
And I'm a Reading fan too.

Bob, I understand but I take solace in that I didn’t commission this. But, it was in the livery of the bulk of pandemic acquired roster. Plus, I didn’t even have to look at the service manual when I did the maintenance. As they say, “like riding a bike”.
I purchased this Weaver B&O wagon top box car as a birthday present to myself. I’ve been on the lookout for one of these for a while.
Stumbled across this handsome and previously unknown to me SOUTHERN PS4 from 2006. It is late TMCC and unlike most prior, this has 4 chuffs from the factory. It is lettered for the Southern 1403, not for the Crescent. I thought TMCC was all 2 chuffs with 4 not introduced introduced until Legacy. Pittman motor. Dual Fatboys. Long tender. The green is a slightly darker shade than many others and the detail is amazing for this time period. Very happy with this one...
The feedwater heater reminds me of DIsney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea when the squid latched onto the Nautilus with all the piping up front!
I bought this Lionel Legacy model of Boston & Albany 2-8-4 Berkshire #1401. Only a brief test run (conventional) so far but it's an impressive model in my opinion.
MELGAR
A MTH SD40T-2 Cotton Belt Tunnel Motor. It is a PS2/3V engine in the SSW Bicentennial scheme.
The caboose is an older K-Line hack that needs a little smoke jack work…
