I bought the Lionel radio tower last weekend.  It makes a neat static display, with a blinking red light on top.  But it also is a functioning AM/FM radio.  I might get one of those devices that let you play your iPhone through the radio and play clips from old radio shows.  Found a "Little Orphan Annie" episode, complete with an Ovaltine commercial, that reminded me of the movie "A Christmas Story".  Or I could play some 1950s rock and roll.

A little older than the classic turkey drop and you needed your own shirt.

I found these and thought I'd share.  I had no idea that Lionel went "Soul Train" in 1975.  Here's an iron on shirt decal and patches.  As the pickers would say - new old stock.  I found them in a box of Lionel catalogs that my father had stored away.

I came home with this....  My wife had to help me take it out of the car.

I had to use hand trucks to move the two parts.

I need a real big pipe now.  But how will I put it on the the pipe?

I did buy this though

American Flyer 8B transformer.  Too cool.

Trades count for sure!  That is how I acquired my Western Maryland Shay #6.

I knew you needed that crossbuck, Bill!

I have never seen a transformer like that one!  Cool!

Bill, depending on your pipe size (standard is 4-1/2" inches) they are fastened with U bolts to the pipe. I'm sure you can make a smaller dia. pipe work and still use U bolts. Just dig a hole for the pipe and cement in place. Or take the pipe bracket off and just attach it to your train building. I have a lot of this kind of old RR stuff that I plan on displaying eventually, switch stands, and signals mainly. Oh, and I think I have the same transformer, too.

Great find Bill maybe use some post hole diggers plus it’s good exercise

Glad y'all like my new toys.  Lee, YES, I have located NOS cats eyes for $1.50 each.  My wife said "order them now".  I have post hole diggers and I know how to use them (hand them to a younger man).  Rusty, I saw one in a post here on the forum.  I searched the bay to learn what it was.  I had to have one.  It will replace my Lionel CW-80 for lighting my accessories.  Anyone want a good used CW-80?  I need to order some "eyes".

Does the "Crossing" part have the same bracket on it's back as the "Railroad" part of the sign ?

Every now and then, on a discussion regarding free speech or things you can or cannot say, I'll say "booger".  Rarely do I get anyone that knows I'm quoting Dr. Johnny Fever.

Jeff,

I bought one earlier this year.  I also got a FM transmitter off the bay.  You connect the transmitter to your favorite source, in my case an Echo Dot, and enjoy non stop Beatles music.  I can even connect it to my ham radio station.  Very cool.

Bill

Neat idea.  I've got a Google mini, which doesn't have an audio output, but I can probably pick up a used Echo Dot if I decide to go that route.

I watched the review and the manufacturer's short.  It looks like there are a lot of possibilities!!  That is really neat and would be a great addition to all the wooden track parts my wife has picked up at thrift stores for the grandchildren; if we ever have grandchildren.    Thank you for posting!!!

I missed the 75th as I was 5 at the time, but I was a member of the Lionel fan club for a few years soon afterward, they used the same logo for that. I think I had one of their patches for a while. I have no idea when I stopped being a member, it's something I had actually forgot about until now.
