Well, it looks like I gone done fallen off the wagon… again…

After several months of harsh, difficult, self imposed discipline, I ventured a look at Mr. Muffin’s August Auction. I mean really… there’s no harm in just looking, right??? And what do I find on the very first page??? The SoundStation Diner Car I needed to complete my Dreyfuss 20th Century Limited from 2003. Fortunately, I was the only bidder, so…

And then, this offering from LOTS showed up in the mail. I completely forgot I had ordered it. I’ve always liked the CP beaver logo.

Then, after my stop at Steamtown, I visited my local bad influence of choice (aka Grzyboski’s), and, unbeknownst to me, a couple of items followed me home. First, a pair of VERY detailed reefers from Atlas - not quite from my corner of Pennsylvania, but still in the state!!!

And finally, two more Map Cylindrical Hoppers from MTH. The Illinois Central is I interesting in that it doesn’t show the entire IC, but just the route of the City of New Orleans (and I noticed that MTH will be issuing one later this year for the NY Central ESE - have to keep an eye out for that one).

Just when I thought I was done buying engines, this one popped up on an auction site and oops I won the bid.  This is a 3RD Rail GE C44 9W.  This came with the original owner's paperwork. Oddly no dates anywhere.  Does anyone know if this has a battery inside?  My 3RD Rail M10000 had one (a simple 9v) buried inside with no mention of it being there, so I suspect there might be one. Lots of screws to remove to check - so I would like to avoid doing so if there is no battery.

Wow, this is a nicely done engine. Hats off to Scott and team for this model.  (EMU cables are still in the package and never applied.  Also anyone have a suggestion for a scale coupler for the front end of this. Non-operating is fine.)

Being dragged around behind The Wagon really doesn't constitute "Being On The Wagon" so I'm not sure if you actually fell off.  I should put my stones back in my pocket before I cast them in your direction.  I've just received a medium box, a small box, and two padded envelopes, more on those tomorrow.  However with the items shown here I'm sure your digressions will be overlooked.  At least here at The Beach!

Nice dining car, at first I thought it was a Weaver like one I bought a while back.  I do need to find a Weaver @20th Century Limited observation car.

The Beaver is truly a nice logo.

The cylindrical map hoppers need to get posted in the thread about Map Cars.  I'll have to keep m eye open for that ESE hopper.

OK so I have lost My Mind and my wife wants me to join a Group for Train Auction Addiction.

I bought the following (2) sample models MTH 263T and (2) MTH 260T.

Now what do i do? do i rebuild them for my many trains on the bench or do i keep them as is? or do i upgrade some old 260E to PS-2/3 and try and make them work as Modern Trains ?

Oh, wow, eureka!  I hit the mother lode!   Not only did l find that new Lionel Colorado and Southern #641 2-8-0 with the plow this morning, after belatedly discovering its existence, l went into the Bay and found a brass Q coach caboose to go with it that l had never seen in brass before (have had a kit for wooden model to build forever).  Hog heaven!

So when Paul fell off the wagon he landed on me.  Remember; a big box, a small box and 2 padded envelopes?  Well here they are.

Big box, the three K-Line LIRR passenger from the Greenport Scoot set.  I lived on Lawn Guy Land for 30 years without modelling the LIRR.  I had a few club cars and this K-Line LIRR F-Unit.  I bought the F-Unit from Island Trains many years ago when I was looking to expand my TMCC roster, even though I had already dismantled my layout.  At the time TMCC was adding a $150 premium over the price the same engine without TMCC so when Island Trains had this advertised for $164.99 I bought with every intention of re-painting it.  Well now I guess I won't have to repaint it.

The smaller box,  GP7/9 roof fans and details.  The roof fans are will be used to make the battery boxes of some LED Christmas lights look more like roof top air handling units and air conditioners.

Padded envelope #1 another set of track side electrical cabinets.

Padded envelope #2, 7 picnic tables for use around the layout.

And I must thank you, Joe, for cushioning my fall (you and your padded envelopes!!!). I really like your Scoot - a nice colorful, compact consist. And I love that it represents an actual real-life train. I created one too, but my version has 21” cars!!!

Michael Roth...when l get a chance to replace the wheel sets with three rail, and have checked soldering and paint (hopefully only touch-ups) l will be glad to post photo of this engine and caboose one car train.

A 2855 Conventional Classics Sunoco tank car.  This is a scale die cast car.  Not a sheet metal car like the original 2755 (4th photo), 2855 or 6555 tank cars (2nd photo).  3rd photo is a retrucked restored 2955 Sunoco tank car.

I've been trying to track down a Weaver NYC 20th Century Limited aluminum observation car to complete my @20th Century Limited - Advance Section with no luck.  This Williams Century Limited Observation car popped up on the Bay for a ridiculous low price and even though it's not an exact match the aluminum extrusions appear to be the same so it's a good starting point.  Some satin black on the roof, some pin stripe tape for the blue and white stripes and I may have an acceptable NEW YORK CENTRAL decal to replace the Williams font.

I notice the New York Central and Century are not decals but appear to be a gray printed sticker strip that run the length of the car.  HAs anyone ever removed one of these strips from a Williams aluminum car?  I would believe the aluminum underneath the sticker is painted gray like the rest of the body.  Another one heads to the work bench.  Pretty soon there'll be no layout for all the projects strewn across it.

Your post brought back many fond memories from the past .  Years of the couple hours ride from Dubois to Danville for hospital charity motorcycle rides that ended up at Knoebels Amusment Park.   Great park and a great model you have finally been able to procure sir .

It really is a special place. I have to caution you against going down this rabbit hole though . Trying to find these train items is a heartbreaking endeavor. When I bought this Coach at auction, there was a set of two freight cars that went for nearly $900.

Well, Bob, I have seen several forum sponsors advertising them as in stock

I’d classify the M1 as a medium engine. Mine has the 6-wheel tender and is about 27” long and there is some with a shorter 4-wheel tender.
