Vincent,
they are both very nicely detailed cars, and being that grain operations is the main focus of my layout I’m always looking for hoppers like these. Lionel and K-Line also made very nice extruded aluminum models of the ACF 2, 3, and 4 bay models, they are also harder to find, especially the 2 bay.
John
I won't get to play with it until Christmas, but I just bought one of Malcolm's Southern cabooses.
Just arrived today, a reworked 2035 post-war loco and tender. Purchased from an Ebay seller who was very gracious and worked with me on the price. He added some railing detail, cab figures and lighting, raised headlight and of course a repaint, sorry post-war purists.....LOL The smoke unit works beautifully.

There’s some nice cars, trains and related here on this thread. I attended York last month and had a great time. Everyone was carrying packages to their cars/SUV’s, and going back for more. There were lots of train and related pieces for sale. Being that I have many items on order, (BTO) I has to be careful. Wow, it’s an addiction.... I did find the one train car I was looking for, the Lionel L&N Box car.... This is all I purchased.... I wish everyone a happy holiday season. Run these trains.
Hey nice collection you have here. You should get you self a big emma berkshire steamer.I have 1 railking L&N berkshire 1967.Which happens to be the year I was born.
West acquisition is a pre-war crossing gate. These gates are more to scale then the larger ones made after the war but which were also made prior to WWII. These smaller gates are quite impressive. There is even an adjustment for the arm. When I first powered it up, the gate would not lower but the bulb lit. After I adjusted the spring, photo 3, the gate lowers perfectly.
I also have an MTH remake with dual gates. I wonder why Lionel chose not to make these after the war ?

I like that as a fan of tin. Those #46 gates sometimes had a small pedestrian arm over the green base section. I agree about the postwar production question as they appeared to be going more in a scale direction at that point.

Just received these from forum member @fl9turbo2.
The start of a beer train..... along with my two K-line Yuengling coaches.
This arrived this afternoon - just a day after my 26th birthday!
I found this Lionel OO Gauge Set - no. 0090W - on the bay for a great price (a little over $650) considering the condition and contents.
The set came with the boxes (albeit in less than ok condition with the set box in rags), an oval of two-rail track, a scale Hudson with a whistle tender, all 4 die cast freight cars, and even an original 1942 catalog!
The Hudson came with a slightly broken trailing truck (which you can’t see), but otherwise everything looks top notch condition, especially considering it’s almost 80 years old. The freight cars especially. I’ve gotta get it all looked over so it’s all in working condition, but I feel just like a kid back in 1942 when this set was first released.
Especially with that catalog to look back on all the classic items. I think I’ve cemented myself on collecting prewar Lionel now.
I’ve been meaning to post for the last 3 days but finally getting around to it(plus I’ve made some more acquisitions):
First Up, MTH LV Railking single-some tanker from my LHS
Combo of eBay and LHS purchases: FasTrack transition pieces, FasTrack bumpers(bumpers and transition pieces serve a purpose otherwise I wouldn’t have included them in my post)MTH flashing barricades, lighted lock-on, Amtrak Passenger shelter
Thione is my favorite, have been waiting at least 6 months to get it and finally found it at the right price
To the left of the camper, a picture of one of the MTH flashing barricades(had to time that one just right!). Found them for cheap on eBay so I went for it and am very happy.
From the west end of the layout, behind the prewar lamp is the MTH barricade controller. Inside the Bing passenger station is one of the model power peel and stick lights
Bought a large grass mat and put it down on about 2 and a half feet of the West end of my layout, looks so much better.
Remember the FasTrack transition pieces and earthen bumpers mentioned above- see below:
finally got this Corgi “Forward March” 1:50th Scale Toy soldiers set on eBay. Came with the half-track(snow covered vehicle) and 3 1:50 Scale soldiers- 2 of which are patrolling the border
Happy thanksgiving everyone!

RIP-OFF REVIEW!
The unpowered locomotive in my Disney train set is pushed by the tender. But the locomotive keeps having problems. So when I saw this Chinese knock-off in a Mexican store, I decided to go for it. It is unpowered, was missing two pieces, and there were mistakes in the instructions. I had to remove a small section to get everything to fit. The imitation Lego blocks were difficult to snap together.
And then I kit-bashed it, replaced the original locomotive, and it runs great!

HAHA @Former Member !! Believe it or not- it was worse BEFORE the fastrack and earthen bumper!! It's actually meant to look like thescene from the movie "The Horror Express" with Christopher Lee(train on the Trans-Siberian Railway). Anyway, when it was in a more stable state(aka the car being picked-up wasn't over halfway passed the edge of my layout) I did some switching with my TMCC dash 9. But, the siding is so small to begin with the enjoyment of it wore off quickly.

26, eh Thomas. Nice buy, you have a good eye for trains.
Lucky dog! In another 20 years you should be able to buy prewar and postwar for practically nothing from others your age who inherited their father's and/or grandfather's trains.
I have over 20 "train friends" and only one of their adult offspring shows any interest in trains. Seems that most grandkids usually like to play with them when young, no interest in operating or collecting thereafter, a shame
I went to Portland today for my 50th birthday, got these publications, the HOn3 annual has several ET&WNC subjects. Also got a plastruct ladder for a broken one on my water tower, and the metal piece came from the group who handles SP 4449. That's a piece of one of her side skirts, with paint from the Freedom Train colors...
I did.. I bought a post war N&W Work Caboose (6419-100) / with original box from an OGR Sponsor.. I've been looking for the 'right' one for me for years!! Pictures when it arrives!!
Thomas, you did very good my young friend! These OO gauge Hudsons are real jewels!
The set looks exceptional, one of the finest I've seen.
Maybe? I hope so...since l am a nut on (several types of rail side structures, but) especially grain elevators, l buy and build O scale kits of them. One l balked at the price. It showed up very cheap on the net! I glommed it, but...is it complete? Can't tell as it has no instructions, but l suspect not. This may be the Altoona Nanton Elevator. Have you built one of these and done with instructions? Or, horrors, l hope this isn't a kit that only has instructions on line?? I missed an elevator in a drive from St. Louis up to Mark Twain's Hannibal, and an HO model was offered, but plans only on net...grrrr...and guy would not sell separately....so had to scratch build one from photos. Hope plans exist on paper for Nanton?

As promised!! Better than described!! Appears to have no run time and looks new.. Box looks good for 60+years old!! Thank you Henning's Trains!!
Last week, I had to stop by Grzyboski’s to pick up my NYC J3a. They had one of their special run Lionel Delaware - Lackawanna C-420’s on display... one seems to have followed me home!!!
It has very nice graphics, runs well, and has excellent sound. Luckily, someone noted on another thread that the manual incorrectly identifies the hatch you need to remove to access the controls, so I was able to find the correct hatch and program the engine and turn off the smoke. Even luckier, programming the new ID worked perfectly.
On Grzyboski’s website, it states “This engine can be seen daily operating around the Steamtown National Historic Park”... of course, when I was there earlier that day, it was nowhere to be found, but, I hope @Tim O'Malley won’t mind if I borrow one of his Midweek Photos from a couple of weeks ago...
I much enjoyed seeing the Lionel model and then the real engine picture (even though borrowed). Thanks. Nice colors by the way.
Paul, I always like seeing special runs, and I always liked doing business with Grzyboski’s at the Monroeville Pennsylvania Greenburg shows
Bought a couple of things the week of Thanksgiving that I'm finally getting around to posting. Thanks to ebay, Nick Smith's and more!
First up(wow poor quality, apologize for that) K-line by Lionel B&O Boxcab that I picked up at Nick Smith's(downstairs) love box cabs, steeple cabs in toy or real life and like pre-war trains so finding an excellently priced modern box cab was nice!
MTH Railking LV Diecast quad hopper- woah is this guy heavy! Tinplate semaphore is from Nick Smith, "guardrail" is a plastruct truss I painted for my expanding road with smaller vehicles.
Another shot of the hopper which looks great with the Williams N5C Caboose(also diecast). Recently purchased a C628 LV Snowbird that was advertised as Proto 2, but, unfortunately it was the locosounds version
EXTREMELY HAPPY to have picked up this Nick Smith exclusive trolley! The Liberty Bell Limited ran between Philly & Allentown(where I live) the trolley says "Allentown Special" on the black plate. Also new- soldering iron,(upgrade) my first fastrack switch, MTH UP switchtower that I bought at a LHS and all the figures are from 4 different ModelPower packs which I purchased for $5 each.
MTH row house and Lionel Work house again with new Model Power figures. I bought 3 of those MTH piers, 16 Fastrack elevated trestle pieces, and a graduated trestle set(bag in back of photo) for a dollar a piece at an LHS.
AHM Borden's reefer. Bought this just for the novelty of having an AHM o-gauge piece. Also, love that it's a Borden's.
Still gotta open these postal workers up. The green truck is a 1:$3 scale road champs from my grandfather. Plasticville police station isn't new- just setting there to set the seen.
Final shot of what will be going on my layout extension in addition to a good deal of other accessories!
I am collecting items for a future "To the Moon, Alice!" train lay-out. And they've come up with a nine-piece set of magnificent Star Wars ships for about $10.50 apiece. Each package also includes a part for a Death Star that takes all nine ships to complete.
Of course I know it's a rip-off designed to make you buy the entire set! (But I bought all three that Walmart had, and even though I'll never get the full set, the three pieces are very well-made.) I had to steal photos off the web, and I added a photo of the back of the package that shows what the completed Death Star will look like.
We were at the Kennedy Space Center last week (we actually saw a rocket launch to the International Space Station - way cool!) and I bought these items in a play set that I'm gonna detail and add to Cape Warrenaveral. More pics will follow when I get around to that.
I also picked up some cool 1:48 Star Wars figures in EPCOT, and a robot from South of the Border in SC that I will work on.
Did you know K-Line released these items:
K691-8015 - NASA Flat Car w/Capsule & Helicopter
K691-8011 - NASA Die Cast Flat Carw/Rocket Booster
K691-8012 - NASA Die Cast Flat Carw/Rocket Booster
I have seen them recently on eBay.
I ended up purchasing all three which can removed and put together to form a ~3 foot tall rocket.
I just got my 1/43rd scale Chevy 1.5 ton truck, out of Estonia. I was very surprised, as I got the model in just 12 days from the order.
Hopefully, with some of that testors Evo stuff, I can remove the few markings on this thing and go to work on it right away. I'm very, very happy with the quality of this model, and though it wasn't cheap I'm very glad I got one!

Picked up a LW transformer, not sure why - looks cool. It is powering the 646 around the tree.

UMMM......PAUL...... PROGRAMMING????????? FROM A TECHNO-PEASANT???????
Is this what happens when the Delaware and Hudson and the Lackawanna have a baby?

Bah-humbug, Bob Cratchit... my techno-peasantry is still in full vim and vigor. Since they did away with the orange modules, all programming involves is picking a unique ID number and then running the engine over my one sensor track - that transfers all the detailed data to the Cab2. Easy-pesy.
May the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come pay you a long and fruitful visit
Sincerely;
Ebenezer
Okay, so I didn't buy any of this, I have some long time friends that worked for the BNSF P.D. that are now migrating to my industry. This is what they brought me. I'm like a kid at Christmas!!! This is really cool, especially the mugs!
Added some more rolling stock to the fleet.
The Yuengling tanker and the box car came from a forum member. The D&H car from Trainz.
