My 1.4V Cab-2 has a tendency to freeze in the last command when it sits idle at times, it does not matter how close or far I am from base. Everything on layout still continues to run fine when frozen, just can't control anything.
Battery changes have no affect on this issue, and it does come back eventually after hitting different button numerous times without turning off then on again.
Any suggestions?

Re-program by loading 1.4v again (base and cab) and try again. If problem persists try loading 1.5v.

You could try changing the base and remote channels,its been mentioned that the higher channels seem to work better.
Does the red light on the remote illuminate when it becomes unresponsive?

Thanks Art. So it sounds as though the remote is 'awake' and responding Ok, but the signals aren't reaching the base. As RickO suggested, try using a higher channel number, and also it may be worth making sure that the base antenna is fitted correctly, and isn't touching anything. Either of these may reduce reception sensitivity.
