CAB 2....PROBLEM

I think that might happen if the on button was stuck on. There are two smd switches under the red button...one must be to turn the control on and off (off with press and hold) and the other for cycling the functions...just guessing. But for this that you have sounds like you might send it back to Lionel. It seems to take about two weeks turnaround time.

Don't have a clue! Anyone else??

I sent the 990 Legacy Base & CAB-2 off Monday, DEC.1st. Lionel Repair said they would have it back to me in 7-10 Days. Can't ask anymore than that!!

Sorry to be coming in late as I had this same exact problem on a new Cab 2 within a week or two of buying it.  Button totally stopped working and would turn ON only after popping and reinserting batteries.  Also would not turn off with the button - had to let it shut off automatically.  My dealer swapped out his for mine and returned it to Lionel for repair.There were ne or two other folks who had similar problem when I mentioned in a thread - IIRC, one individual got his back to functional status by a hard whack on the table - I didn't try it <g>.

Received my 990 from Lionel Friday Dec. 19th. Not too bad for this time of year! 18 Days turnaround. Tested it today and ALL is OK!

Hi, I bought my 990 in March and have used it about 10 hours.  This morning my CAB 2 wouldn't turn on, so the first thing I did was look on line to see if it was a common problem.  Well, I saw the postings here and contacted Lionel.  My CAB 2 and base are on their way back to Lionel.  I had to send my Santa Fe 3751 and UP SD40T-2 back for smoke unit problems, so this is the third item that has had to be returned in the last few years.  At least they haven't had any further problems once I've gotten them back.

As I mentioned on May 20, 2015, my CAB 2 had the problem with not being able to stay powered up.  I sent the CAB 2 and base to Lionel on May 20th and got them back on June 9th.  That was 20 days which included the Memorial Day holiday weekend!  They upgraded it to version 1.54 too.  That's really decent customer service.  I have heard of really long turnaround times with some other manufactures.  Good job Lionel!
