Now and again, folks are here talking about difficulties with their Legacy CAB2 communicating with the base.  I've experienced that myself in a large basement layout with obstructions.  One option that might be worth a look is a booster amplifier.

I have not used this for the Legacy system, however I do have a problem with my home WiFi signal.  My house is around 85 feet long, and the router is at one end on the second floor.  Reception at the other end of the house is spotty, even with a 15dB corner antenna beaming the signal in that direction.  I picked up this 2W 2.4ghz 2-way Booster, and the difference was remarkable!  I now have plenty of signal strength at the far end of the house, and even out onto the deck in back!  I suspect this would do similar good things for the Legacy signal.

Correct Barry, I am careful to never buy such a router.  There are plenty of choices of routers that do have the reverse-SMA antenna connection available, the one I currently use is the Asus RT-AT66U.  The routers from Verizon FiOS also have a coax connection for the antenna, no problem there.  I don't know about other cable companies like Comcast, not sure what they provide.

In any case, you can use a secondary router easily, I have Verizon, but their router doesn't offer the option of a guest access SSID, so I added my router for it's additional capability.  I just use the FiOS router for the TV Guide, VoIP phone, etc.

Of course, the application I was suggesting it for is the Legacy base, which does have the proper connection.

Dave, it's not an Asus booster, that is the router I'm using it with.  See my link in the first message.  I can tell you if you add a hi-gain antenna, say one of the 9db omni-directional ones and the booster amplifier, you will get considerably expanded range from any stock WiFi product.  As to if it'll totally solve your problem, that's impossible to say without knowing exactly the environment and range required.
