I know this is probably a strange question - it must be the mad scientist in me - but can the above be used as one would use a momentary button to activate any number of accessories ? I think it would be a cool addition to my control panel. I have no need for launching rockets.

Sure, it's up to you. It looks like 3 SPST switches in total, one is a contact for the launch bulb,
I believe Lionel sold it as a sperate item to be used as the op asked.
Actually, I was thinking of using it to activate a section of USC track to launch a rocket from a 3665 box car.
Oh, I might have to steal that idea! Although to be prototypical it should be two keys far apart to require 2 people!😀

Lol! At one time I remember seeing a replica Launch Control Panel someone was selling. Pretty pricey thought.
