Asking specifically about helper battery in TMCC engine to have uninterrupted Railsounds. Thanx.

There should be no reason you can't use that in there. Has the added advantage that as far as I know, Lithium batteries don't leak.......given that lithium batteries are used in all kinds of electronic gear (talking the lithium replacements for standard batteries), should work fine.
How about a permanent solution you never have to replace?

….should be no reason…worries me a little. Lionel specifically mentions using an alkaline battery only, but I suspect that was before Li batteries became available. Thanks for responding.
Ok, GRJ, thanks for pointing that out to me, but can you tell me if a Li battery is a safe replacement for the alkaline battery?

When lionel specified an alkaline battery in TMCC, Lithium batteries for home use didn't exist (lithium batteries did exist), so I am sure it will be fine. GRR is talking about using something like a BCR or other capacitive unit, which means you never have to worry about the battery. Put it this way, if the Lithium 9V battery was not the same, you couldn't use it in smoke detectors, radios and other things that use lithium batteries. Someone will prob come up with "lithium batteries cause fires" bs, but given what the battery is doing, the relative lack of load on it, not going to be an issue (and with lithium battery fires, I haven't seen any reports about things like 9v or AA cells, it all has been things like laptop batteries and car batteries).
The 9V Lithium battery will work fine for the RS sound backup.
