S scale is sort of a sideline scale for me. To much invested in O. This photo is not mine but I figure a true S gauge guy could tell me if this has a can motor? My preference is a can. Thanks in advance.

I believe by 1995 these were all can motors, the owners manual has no maintenance for the motor, just gears & axles, and the rather crude depiction of the motor makes it appear to be a can motor.
It should be the 640-8007-120 motor.
Can motor.
Thanks Rob. I have seen better manuals for sure! I agree it does appear to be a can motor. Thank you.
Hi, I have this engine. I does have a CAN motor. Also the axles ride in bushings.

Thank you. I got your email. Chris.
these engines run great they have can motors run better then the orginal af diesels. the problem is af never put bushings in there frames of there pa diesels and jeeps. this was a big problem. I hate to say it but the new flyer made by lionel runs great the problem is the die hard flyer people will pay big bucks for af orginal stuff and not the new lionel stuff which runs better.
When first introduced in1950 the motor trucks had bushings. By 1953 the bushings were gone. I have replaced my diesels with bushed motor trucks. They run welland as well as the later Can motored diesels. I have to check my Silver Streak from 1952 to see if the motor truck has bushings.
