Can Lionel die cast sprung trucks be disassembled to replace a bent axle?

Is there a specific part number you're talking about? Or do you have a picture? I could take a look tomorrow and see if I have a matching set to see if they come apart.

Nope just a garden variety (2 spring) sprung truck with a bent axle. I have a donor, but don’t want to take the car apart and find I can’t remove the bent axle. No other info. Thx.

Take out the screw in the center of the truck and remove it from the car.

Then you can get at the screw holding the sideframe to the bolster. Remove that screw and the sideframe...Viola.

When reassembling, be sure not to over tighten the truck mount screw. Check that the truck rotates freely. If it doesn't, back the screw out just a bit until the truck moves easily.
