Can't Set TMCC ID

First off, try it on another system if possible.  If you really can't change it's ID, the logical assumption would be that something about the RUN/PGM switch is broken.

Thanks, GRJ.  I don't have access to another TMCC base.  At least not any time soon.

I do have a Legacy system sitting in a box.  Would that help here?  Or does a potentially broken RUN/PGM switch effect any Legacy related action as well?

Can you set the ID of other TMCC engines with your existing CAB1?

Yes, I can.  Did two other engines about a week ago without issue.

Try another one now.  If it works, either a wire is off the switch, switch not working, or defective R2LC/4LC. G

In conventional mode  the run/program switch when set to program is a lock out switch..  It  locks the engine in one direction.  You could test it without taking anything apart,

 Try holding the cab-1 buttons down a 1/2 or so second  longer when trying to edit the ID in command mode.

how are the batteries in the cab 1? 

I'm out of town this week so I had my son change the batteries in the CAB-1 then reset an engine ID on another engine.  No problem with that operation.

Then he attempted to set the ID on the problem engine.  No response.

So I'll contact Lionel and setup a repair appointment.

I have the same problem with the ERR board in my Williams U33C. My CAB1-L has programed my other engines, but not this one. The guy who installed board the thinks there may be a bad connection. He's backed up with train repairs so I can live with the factory setting of #1 on my Williams until he has time to look at it.
