I got a Centerline car and while I only ran it a few laps on the layout dry, it was picking up a tremendous amount of crud. I was really impressed and am looking forward to more rigorous cleaning with it in the coming weeks.

According to the instructions, Shur-line brand Paint Rollers are the way to go - I went into Home Depot this evening and couldn't find anything good enough use in the car. What are you using and where to get it? I guess I can have my LHS order direct from Centerline but would prefer a better (and possibly cheaper) way to get the rollers. I'll also have to try a paint supply store as well.

The issue that I can see is the center of the roller not being large enough to accommodate any weight. All that I saw at least are far to small, only about the size of a pencil roughly. I need to fit a bunch of glued together washers.

Bought the car from a fellow Tracker. Got a good price and just from a few brief laps, the included roller was near black from all the crud. I'm really impressed by it.

Gentleman,

I too have a centerline cleaner. Instead of ordering high priced rollers from centerline, I purchased rollers from Lowe's and cut them down. I made a fixture to hold a single edge razor blade and a expanding collet to hold the paint rollers.

Of course you will need access to a milling machine, a lathe, and a traveling wire EDM.

The paint rollers at Lowe's come in a three (3) pack for something like $1.79. They are  about 3" long hence the razor blade treatment. The offall I use by pressing them onto a piece of solid plastic rod. I purchased end caps from McMaster Carr and load the rollers with #4 and #6 mixed lead shot about 3/4 full.

Let me take some pictures of the contraceptions I made and try to post them for you.

Have you tried Amazon or something? If they give you a sureline part number you should be able to find a contractor pack of them online.

It could be that it's not the size, but the material.

Centerline tends to use one with very short fibers.  I have a track cleaner from R&L Lines [ http://www.rllines.com/ ] and their's is foam.  In the case of my R&L cleaner, Foam Pro seems to be the only one that makes the precise size and the correct foam type ('fine finisher') based on my looking around.  But I am convinced Home Depot and Lowe's stock very little in rollers and it probably is something I need to look for at a paint-only store.
