Sounds are good but lacks some of the features I would like to have like crossing whistle, etc etc. Do I have a 5volt or 3 volt board and is there any options for changing the sounds. I have yet to change any sounds in any of my engines to date.

Do I have a 5volt or 3 volt board
If the battery charging port is round it's a 5 volt board. If it's rectangular with 2 pins it's a 3 volt board.

Yes, however, you'll need to find a sound file for your board type that has your engine's features and sounds that you like.

I have the 1st ed of you book which should cover it as I don't have any PS3 or Rev L TIU yet.
By the way I just checked and I have the two pin charging port so 3 volts it is.
What the best way to search for sound files? Search for like engines in the product locator or is there a list on MTH website somewhere?

Searches for both production and upgrade sound files just worked fine for me a few minutes ago.
