It may be easy for you professionals to strip, repaint and apply new decals, but compare me to a framer and not a finisher.  I would like to have a Scale MKT Mikado with TMCC.  They are pretty easy to find in UP and PRR livery.  How difficult would it be to change the livery to MKT, including replacing the number boards?

If all you have to do is change out printed railroad names on a steam engine it is easy with comercial decals, the same with numbers, number boards can be challenging but can be done. Dark non gloss black paint is also required.

If a company logo is required then the search for decals must begin. Special decal paper is available that allows the logo to be printed from a home computer. I have tried this and it can be frustrating getting color and size correct.

Painting a diesel locomotive in a three color scheme with extensive striping can be a real challenge, there are a few decal sets comercially available for a limited number of road names but applying them can be frustrating.
