I just took the tender shell of this engine to replace the original battery with a BCR2. But the battery sits deeply in the middile of wire bundles and components.I am scared to force anything and mess something up.Anyone else ever felt this way? I have other MTH Premier engines but none had the battery so hard to get to. Should I be safe and mail it off to a repair center?

Johnny, I looked at the open tender in the instructions on the MTH website.

You should be able to access the battery following these steps.  Just go slow and take one step at a time.

* Take photos of both sides of the open tender for reassembly purposes.

* With diagonal cutters or scissors cut the zip ties (Radio Shack has replacements.)

* Use a Dryer Sheet for anti static protection when near the circuit board.

* Lift the wires out of the way.  Work the battery out.  (you may have to remove the battery bracket)

* Insert the BCR2, test, and reassemble.
