This afternoon there was a small tube in my mailbox from Mr. Muffin's trains in IN., far to small to be rolling stock or a new engine....what could it be....my interest was peaked.

Turned out to be a lovely bottle of smoke fluid, a mint holiday type, as a "thank you" for the business we've done with them this year.

They're not my local shop, but have become my go-to shop for excellent service, fast shipping, and great pricing for new trains. That "Santa" Steve will send along a little gift is just another example of the care they take in valuing their customers.

I strongly encourage you to add them to your list of great shops in this hobby, they're one of the best in the business, and you'll feel valued as customer -- something far to few businesses do these days.

I received one as well.   What a Pleasant (and totally unexpected) Surprise!   I'm not what you would call a "Big Spender" but what I do spend in the future will definitely go to Mr. Muffin first.   In all my years dealing with various vendors I can honestly say that this is the first time I have received anything like this.   It's little things like this that make a huge impact in my book!   Merry Christmas to Steve and his entire family!

Do NOT forget his wife!  Liz is a very sweet lady.  And she's a highly intelligent lady!  And she bakes a mean muffin!  It's not just Steve, who is a gentleman and scholar!

Far too many times, our women are left out.  This is no longer just a boy's hobby.  We have lady Master Model Railroaders as well!  Liz and Steve run that operation TOGETHER.  Merry Christmas and Peace to all!

True, True, True... Mr Muffin is one great guy.  His service and response to customers problems and questions are second to none.  His prices may or may not be matched but they are seldom beaten.  But how many forum members have spent time on his web page to explore all of his links?

A couple of years ago while visiting his website I clicked on the drop-down link "About Us".  Then I clicked on the topic "The Train to Heaven".  I am not ashamed to admit I got choked up reading this story.  It tells a brief story about a life-changing event that Steve experienced.  I have read it 5-6 times since then and it touches my heart every time.

Here is that link please read it and you will understand.

I got mine the other day. First class all the way around!!! Thank you Mr. Muffin! My LHS would never do anything like that even after charging what basically comes out to MSRP (which is why they don't get much business from me). Mr. Muffin on the other hand gets the bulk of my preorders and I imagine after this next Lionel catalog comes out, I will be placing quiete a few orders with him; especially if a certain 4-8-4 NYC steamer is in it along with a certain streamlined Hudson and matching passenger cars
