Every year I run a Christmas train on the layout. This year the motive power is a recent release Legacy PRR Y3 with whistle steam. The consist is eleven of the Lionel AF Christmas cars. The train was photographed this morning staged on the South Yard lead awaiting clearance onto the main line.

We also have a 50” diameter circle of track under the tree, at the request of my wife. It has five additional Christmas cars and is pulled by a Legacy NPR Berkshire. It also has some snow village and selected cars and trucks.
I use a Legacy engine to pull the train even though this track is powered with conventional AC. The Legacy engines run great in conventional mode, smoke a whole lot, and most of the sounds are accessible with the Whistle and Bell buttons.

I don't have room for a layout, but every year at Christmas the AF trains come out. My wife and I put up a 8'x6' layout and village around our tree. It is powered by conventional AC, and I have a variety of locomotives and rolling stock that I rotate through every few days. However, the Berkshire always comes out at the end, you can't beat a classic steam engine running around the tree on Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone!
